Although many people may assume that the largest casino in the world is in Las Vegas, the city made famous for gambling and casinos; the largest casino is actually in the New England states, right in the heart of Connecticut in a town called Mashantucket. So if you live in the northeastern or Midwest states, you may actually want to consider a trip to the Foxwoods Resort Casino, instead of traveling all the way to Las Vegas or to Monte Carlo on the French Rivera.
The grand Foxwoods Resort Casino only opened its doors in 1992, but has already made a name for itself as a fabulous stand alone casino owned and operated by Mashantucket’s Pequot tribe. While most casinos boast a few thousand square feet, the Foxwoods Resort Casino boasts an amazing 344,000 square feet. This includes a gorgeous 4,000 seat arena where you will find the most up to date entertainers performing, the Club BB King, Hard Rock Café Foxwoods, which is only one of 25 restaurants on the property, a beautiful Foxwoods Golf course and country club, and three amazing hotels with over 1,400 rooms altogether.
This does not include the more than 7,400 slot machines, 388 table games and the world’s largest bingo hall. With so much room in the casino, you are bound to find a slot machine, table game, video poker, Keno table, or game of blackjack that suits your fancy. The casino also offers horseracing when in season, as well as other race betting, and is open 24 hours a day for the most popular games. Foxwoods offers special rooms so that players can become completely engaged in blackjack, roulette, or a special game played at Foxwoods called Acey-Deucy. The poker room boasts over 76 tables to choose from, specializing in 7-Card Stud, Texas Hold'em, and Omaha with limits of $1 & $2 through pot-limit and no-limit.
Although there are other hotels and restaurants nearby Foxwoods Resort, there really is no need to leave the property for your entire visit. With three choices of hotels, the Grand Pequot Tower and the Great Cedar Hotel, which are attached to the casino and the Two Trees Inn, located just on the opposite side of the road, there really is no need to go anywhere else. The Grand Pequot is the largest and most lavish hotel, with 800 guest rooms, and the Great Cedar houses 312 rooms, while the Two Trees Inn is the smallest and most affordable of all the Foxwoods Hotels.
If you are looking to enjoy an amazing weekend of gambling, entertainment and fun, find your way to the Foxwoods Resort Casino off of route 184 at the Pequot Indian Reservation, east of Rhode Island in Connecticut. Either way you come east or west, from Connecticut or Rhode Island you will take I-95 almost to the RI border, where you will go north on route 184 and stay there until you run into the Pequot Indian Reservation. If you are coming from the north, you will take I-395 to just outside of Norwich and then head south on route 184. When you are ready to experience the grandest casino in the entire world, Foxwoods is the place to visit. |
